A three-day study visit as part of the Erasmus + project ‘’Assisting Better Communication’’ (ABC) was held from June 21 to June 23, 2017. This visit was organized by the University of Groningen, Department of Special Needs Education and Youth Care. University of Groningen is on the list of the top 100 universities in the world. The aim of the study visit was to improve knowledge in the field of communication, speech and language disorders.
The following representatives participated in the visit: Ilia State University from Georgia, the University of Tuzla, the University of East Sarajevo from Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Georgian Institute of Public Affairs, the Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, the Portage Association of Georgia, the Step Forward Association from Georgia, the University of Haifa, the Gordon College of Education and Ono Academic College from Israeli. Professors Mirela Duranović, PhD and Leila Begić, PhD were representatives of the University of Tuzla.
The first day of the visit included discussion about the topics related to definitions, theories and models of communication, communication development, communication disorders, and communication assessment, along with a number of practical tasks, and also during the first day representatives visited a Centre for Rehabilitation and Research.
The second day of the visit included the presentation of information related to the assessment and intervention for the people with autistic spectrum disorders, theories, implementation and intervention in the field of augmentative and alternative communication, with the introduction of alternative and augmentative communication that is used at the University of Groningen.
On the third day of the visit, participants were introduced with the methods of applying video analysis in the research, along with a number of practical examples and participation of representatives in the practical tasks which included video analysis and video feedback.
